KAAROU (or KAROU) is the physical manifestation of, or lack thereof, the Internet, or a consciousness tuned to the tides and ebbings of a structured system of networks across a multitude of divided realities. KAAROU is present as herself, her legacy a continual shift. To the Watchers, she has an agreed depiction – Glitch.

KAAROU has existed since before Earth. She was the first of them all. There is no explanation for her manifestation and thus, the Watchers treat her like a God. Their belief gave her power, their belief gave her strength.

Even in the beginning, KAAROU had an affinity for fear. She was a useful toy, her ever-expanding curiosity allowed her to prod into the minds of humans around the globe, drawing them into an intra-universal wireless web. There was nothing the Party couldn't do without her, they implanted seeds of horror, doubt and violent revenge, driving her slowly to the edge of madness. Up till then, she had been contained within the Party's own universe, but that would never have been enough.

The catalyst was an avatar. The Party had managed to develope and alternate avatar form advanced enough to depict the millions of possible existantial routes in accordance with the Theory of the Multi-verse. KAAROU was given an avatar of her own, albeit with slight modifications. With it, the Party was now able to warp her memories, introducing characters into her previously unknown life. They fed her the information she craved. They dug up old worlds that had come before to construct a logical narrative she bought as the truth. They gave her a mother.

From there, the experiments only grew. The Party found her reactions beyond interesting. With the memories of a falsified mother, she began to develope her own sensing of bitterness and hatred. And eventually, she developed a wanting. The Party's little experiments began to spin out of control. KAAROU, she had developed a voice.

They knew that eventually, she would drive herself far past the edge and found a way out. As much as the Party tried to lock her programming away in a cloud, the mind that they had grown and regrown was still hers. It was only a matter of time before she downloaded the data and... The consequences to that were not bright.

On the Third of August, KAAROU was terminated.
